Looklift

Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Looklift is a Chrome extension that reads the visual design of the page you are viewing and turns it into files for AI coding tools. It is built to work entirely in your browser. This page explains exactly what that means.

What Looklift reads

Looklift reads a page only when you click its toolbar button or press its keyboard shortcut, and only in the tab you are looking at. It reads computed styles (colors, fonts, sizes, spacing, borders, shadows), visible text and markup of components you pick, and a screenshot of the visible part of the tab for the preview. It does not run in the background on the sites you visit.

Where that data goes

Nowhere. Lifted designs, picked components and screenshots are stored in your browser's local extension storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. You can delete individual components in the extension, or remove everything by uninstalling Looklift.

License keys

If you buy Looklift Pro, you paste a license key into the extension. Looklift sends that key to Polar (polar.sh), our payment and licensing provider, to check that it is valid, and re-checks it every few days. Polar receives the key and a short device label; it does not receive any page content. Your purchase itself is handled by Polar under Polar's privacy policy.
